Dr. Adler received his B.S. in Meteorology from The Pennsylvania State University
in 1965, an M.S. in Meteorology from The Pennsylvania State University in 1967,
and a Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science from Colorado State University in 1974. He
is currently the branch head for the Mesoscale Atmospheric Processes Branch,
Laboratory for Atmospheres, Goddard Space Flight Center, NASA, Greenbelt, MD.
Dr. Adler's research focus has been the utilization of satellite observations for the study of various phenonena including intense convective systems and the estimation of precipitation from space observations. His current emphasis is on the estimation of global precipitation from space using both low-orbit passive microwave and geosynchronous infrared observations. Dr. Adler has published over 45 refereed papers in scientific journals on these topics. He is currently the Team Leader of the TRMM and Other Satellites Team for the Tropical Rain Measuring Mission(TRMM) science team.
He is the recipient of the NASA Exceptional Scientific Achievement Medal, 1989, the Goddard Laboratory for Atmospheres-Outstanding Achievement Award, 1985, and the Goddard Space Flight Center-Exceptional Performance Award, 1980.
